Question by Kyle S: Books for a 15 year old girl?
My fiance’s 15 year old sister is having a birthday and wants new books. She loves fantasy mixed in with a little romance. I know for a fact that she’s read these books:
-Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer
-All Amelia Atwater-Rhodes books
-Pern books by Ann McCaffrey
-Books by Hollie Black
-Blue Bloods series by Melissa De La Cruz
I need ideas!

Try some books by Sarah Mlynowski. The first one in the series is Bras & Broomsticks, then Frogs & Frenchkisses, and finally Spells & Sleeping Bags. Despite the impression that the titles give, the main character doesn’t actually kiss the guy she wants until the third book.

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
It’s about a girl (Tally) living in a world where you get a makeover when you’re 16. It makes you look pretty. Before you’re 16, you have to live in the Ugly part of the city. She then meets a girl that doen’t want to be pretty and wants to leave on her 16th birthday. Special Circumstances wants Tally to stop her, so Tally goes to leave. She then finds out that they destroy the brain when they do the makeover, but special circumstances comes and wants to make everyone there pretty. They both then turn pretty.
There are more books in the trilogy like: Pretties, Specals, and Extras.
I think that’s how the book goes though. She might like it, since I’m roughly her age.

Harry Potter: Fantasy, more romance in the later books
Artemis Fowl: Fantasy, more romance in the fifth book
Alex Rider: Adventure, romance in the third book
Eragon: Fantasy, romance in both of the published books
The Bartimaeus trilogy: Fantasy, not really romance, but oh, the humor
I love these books, but personally I don’t like the romance in them. I like the adventure and magic and these books give me everything. These are actually my favourite books. Not too much romance at all.

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk-Kidd. It is a book that is appropriate for a 15 year old, but is also very enjoyable for an adult reader. It hits on some serious, thought provoking subjects (racism, grief, domestic abuse) in such a novel way, but is also a classic coming of age story. I highly recommend it!

Lurlene McDaniel was my favorite when I was that age. I still read her books now. I would get her The Angels Trilogy first it was always my favorite.
